Protection of Biodiversity at Kehati Asri Conservation in 2023

Chandra Asri continues its efforts to protect biodiversity through environmental conservation initiatives, one of which is the establishment and management of the Kehati Park located in Gunung Sugih Village, Ciwandan District, Cilegon City. Through the preservation of Kehati Asri Park, the company strives to continuously assess the diversity of flora and fauna through research, development, and innovation with trained personnel.

Based on the 2023 Biodiversity Status Data in Kehati Asri Park, a total of 415 plants from 44 plant species were found, with a Flora Biodiversity Index (H') of 3. Efforts are being made to cultivate typical Banten flora based on the Decree of the Lebak Regent No. 522.51/SK.233/Ekon/1993, specifically the Namnam plant (Cynometra cauliflora), with the cultivation of 130 stems.

Meanwhile, the Fauna Diversity in Kehati Asri Park in 2023 consists of 132 individuals from 3 categories: Aves, Mammals, and Herpetofauna. Based on this data, the Fauna Biodiversity Index (H') in Kehati Asri Park is 2.08 for the Aves class, 1.31 for the Mammals class, and 1.74 for the Herpetofauna group.

As a part of their commitment to biodiversity protection, Chandra Asri has established institutional cooperation with the Department of Biology Education at the Faculty of Education (FKIP) of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University (UNTIRTA) to implement the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi program, which includes research, identification, and inventory of biodiversity in Kehati Asri Park. One of the outcomes of this collaboration is the creation of an information system as an Educational for Sustainable Development (ESD) based learning platform accessible via: https://kehatiasri.com.

Chandra Asri Holds Community Awareness Activity Phase 4 with Gunung Sugih Village Residents

As part of routine activities, Chandra Asri has once again organized a Community Awareness event to provide socialization to the local community surrounding the company, aiming to enhance awareness and understanding. The phase 4 Community Awareness event was attended by 120 residents of Gunung Sugih Village and took place at the Village Office Yard on Saturday, October 2, 2023. There were three main topics covered during this event, including company gas pipeline safety, HIV/AIDS prevention, and fire prevention.

During the event, Chandra Asri also donated 11 Fire Extinguishers to Gunung Sugih Village. Additionally, a fire extinguishing simulation using blankets and APAR was conducted with the participants. The information shared during this socialization is expected to be carried by each participant and implemented as good practices within their homes and families.

Chandra Asri has received the Katadata Corporate Sustainability Award (KCSA) in the Chemicals sector for the Environment category from Katadata Insight Center (KIC), an economic and business research institution. This award recognizes Chandra Asri's commitment, programs, sustainable principles in business activities, and its contribution to environmental protection.

Chandra Asri, as a growth partner for Indonesia, consistently maintains a strong commitment to sustainability with its three pillars: Pro People, Pro Planet, and Pro Profit, along with ESG principles. This award is based on the analysis and assessment of the "Katadata Corporate Sustainability Index (KCSI)" by Katadata analysts and experts from various sectors. Data processing is sourced from the Sustainability Report mandated by the Financial Services Authority (OJK), ISO certifications, Proper ratings by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), and various data related to other sustainability principles such as carbon emission reduction, energy and water efficiency, waste management, environmental management, and social care programs.

Proactively campaigning sustainability and amplifying the #IndonesiaAsri message, Chandra Asri secured four communication awards at the Indonesia PR Program of the Year 2023 event. Chandra Asri's communication programs honored during this event include #AKSIASRI Operasi Semut, which received a Very Good rating in the Creative Corporate Reputation category; The Plastic Waste Savings (Nabung Sampah Plastik) Campaign, recognized with a Very Good rating in the Internal PR category and included in the Top 3 Best Outtakes in the Internal PR category; as well as Ride Carbon Free Chandra Asri, which earned a Good rating in the ESG Campaign category.

Indonesia PR Program of the Year 2023 is an annual recognition event for communication programs and practitioners, organized by MIX MarComm Magazine from SWA Media Group. This year, the judging of the Indonesia PR Program of the Year 2023 involved quantitatively measuring the Outtakes parameters to generate a performance rating for the assessed programs. This quantitative measurement, achieved through data analysis in cyberspace, aligns with Barcelona Principle 3.0, an initiative introduced by the International Association for the Measurement and Evaluation of Communication (AMEC).

KDL Develops Solar Panel Business for Renewable Energy Solutions

A subsidiary of Chandra Asri Group, Krakatau Daya Listrik (KDL), has succeeded in developing business for solar panel generator development business with four different mechanisms as an effort to provide new and renewable energy solutions. The company has succeeded in installing solar panels in various projects, including industry and retail, with a total new and renewable energy electricity capacity reaching to 958 kWp and it is targeted that the solar power plant project will reach 3 MWp in 2023.

KDL has four mechanisms for installing solar panels: Solar On Grid System, Solar Off Grid System, On Grid with Battery Back-Up System, and Solar Hybrid System. KDL's flagship projects include Rooftop Photovoltaic (PV) installations which can also be used in housing as well as Ground-Mounted PV and Floating systems. All these initiatives reflect KDL's commitment to contributing to the development of sustainable new and renew able energy sources and playing a role in reducing environmental impacts.

Chandra Asri, in collaboration with Lions Club Districts 307 A1 and B1, organized the "Pluit Reservoir Cleanup Day 2023" on Sunday, September 10, 2023, at Pluit Reservoir Park in North Jakarta. This joint clean-up event is part of the World Cleanup Day (WCUD), which is the world's largest annual simultaneous clean-up activity observed every September.

WCUD 2023 at Pluit Reservoir Park involved more than 1,000 volunteers, including employees and management from Chandra Asri. The theme of World Cleanup Day 2023 was "Sorting Waste from Home to Circular Economy," signifying a collective effort to address the issue of waste, especially plastic waste, by promoting sorting waste from the source. This clean-up action successfully prevented 800.3 kg of waste from polluting the water body, which serves as an alternative source of water for the community. That accumulated waste consist of 387.7 kg of organic waste, 228 kg of anorganic waste, and 184.6 kg of other waste.

Chandra Asri Distributes 62 Seeds to the Banten Polytechnic of Petrochemical Industry

During the campus life introduction for new students at Banten Polytechnic of Petrochemical Industry, Chandra Asri handed over fruit seeds to support a more beautiful campus environment. A total of sixty-two seeds were distributed in a symbolic event, represented by Wawan Mulyana, the Corporate Shared Value Department Manager at Chandra Asri, and Supardi, the Director of Banten Polytechnic of Petrochemical Industry.

The seed distribution program was a collaboration between the Corporate Shared Value Department and the Corporate SHE Risk Management Department, representing Chandra Asri's efforts to maintain the environmental ecosystem's balance. The seeds handed over included durian, sapodilla, avocado, and red shoot seeds. Additionally, one of the plants given was an endemic Indonesian flora, namely Namnam (Cynometra cauliflora).

Circular Economy-Based Plastic Waste Management Initiative Receives Regional Recognition at ABA 2023

Chandra Asri has been honored with an ASEAN-level award for its strong commitment to providing solutions to the plastic waste issue in Indonesia. At the ASEAN Business Awards (ABA) 2023 event on Monday, September 4, 2023, Chandra Asri emerged as the winner of the Plastic Waste Circularity Award in the Large Enterprise category. This award was directly received by Chandra Asri's President Director, Erwin Ciputra, and was presented by the Vice President Director of PT Indika Energy Tbk and CEO of Indika Group, Azis Armand.

At the ABA 2023 event, Chandra Asri introduced its community-based end-to-end plastic waste management initiative, consisting of the Integrated Waste Management Facility - Self-Managed Waste Solutions (IPTS-ASARI) in Cilegon, integrated with the SAGARA Program, which empowers fishermen in  Anyar Village, Serang.

In recognition of the Company's continuous efforts to create benefits for the environment and society, Chandra Asri was received four awards at the "Indonesia Corporate Social Responsibility Awards VI," organized by Economic Review Magazine. The awards were received directly on Thursday, August 31, 2023, by Edi Rivai, serving as the Legal and External Affairs & Circular Economy Director, Suryandi, the Human Resources & Corporate Affairs Director, and Phuping Taweesarp, the ESG & Sustainability Director.

During the Indonesia Corporate Social Responsibility Awards VI, Edi Rivai, in his capacity as the Director of Legal, External Affairs & Circular Economy at Chandra Asri, was named The Best Commitment Director of 2023. The Company also received three other awards: The Best of The Best Overall Implementation Program (ESG – SDG – CSR) – Platinum Award (Very Excellent), the Best of The Best Category Environmental Social Governance - Platinum Award (Very Excellent), and the Best of The Best Category Overall Company – Platinum Award (Very Excellent). Held in Da Nang, Vietnam, on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, the Global CSR & ESG Awards 2023™ is the most prestigious CSR and ESG awards program at the Asian level that has been organized for 15 years. These awards are bestowed upon companies with extraordinary, innovative, and world-class products, services, and programs that have been implemented or are in progress. To enhance the competitiveness of the petrochemical industry value chain, Chandra Asri and BRI have officially joined forces to provide financing facility for Chandra Asri's domestic customers. This collaboration in offering financing facility marks the first financing scheme designed specifically by BRI for the national petrochemical industry. Through a symbolic signing, this partnership was formally held in Jakarta on August 29, 2023, by Raymond Budhin, Chandra Asri's Polymer Sales Director; Rully Aryawan, Chandra Asri's Supply Chain Director; and Agus Noorsanto, BRI's Institutional & Wholesale Business Director.

The financing facility is provided to boost wholesale transaction volume while simultaneously supporting Indonesia's focus on enhancing the downstream industry through the optimization of domestic raw material processing. The collaboration between Chandra Asri and BRI also serves as an acknowledgment to the Company's customers who have chosen domestically produced content to support their businesses. At the 4th Indonesia Public Relations Awards 2023 event, PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk (Chandra Asri) succeeded in being listed in the 2023 Popular Companies & Institutions Awards. The award was presented by Bram S. Putro, Founder & CEO of The Iconomics, and was directly received by Chrysanthi Tarigan, Corporate Communications General Manager of Chandra Asri.

During this annual communication awards event, The Iconomics assessment team selected hundreds of companies and institutions, including those listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) and those not listed. For companies like Chandra Asri that are listed on the IDX, the jury evaluates them based on liquidity, market value, as well as strong fundamentals and returns. Together with Journalists Celebrate World Mangrove Day and Support Indonesia's Decarbonization Mission

On Wednesday, 26 July 2023, in commemoration of World Mangrove Day, Chandra Asri held a mangrove planting event together with journalists at the Patikang Lestari Mangrove Edu-Ecotourism Area in Patikang Village, Pandeglang Regency, Banten. Mangrove planting was carried out as an effort to support decarbonization by maximizing blue carbon, or carbon absorbed, stored, and released by coastal and marine ecosystems.

A total of 30 seedlings were planted as a form of concern for the mangrove ecosystem, which is believed a natural fortress for coastal areas. In 2022, Chandra Asri also collaborated with Yayasan Inspirasi Keluarga Kesemat (IKAMAT), an alumni foundation of UNDIP Marine Science, to research the mangrove ecosystem. The research found that this area is home to 33 species of birds, 8 species of mammals, 10 species of reptiles, and 1 species of amphibian. Chandra Asri also helped improve facilities and infrastructure by building a small jetty, 1 educational hut, 1 toilet, 1 multipurpose hut, and a 179-meter-long track that utilized the Company's non-B3 waste in the form of wooden pallets.

Chandra Asri Shares [Code: TPIA] Entered IDX ESG Leaders Index

Committed to sustainability, Chandra Asri's shares [TPIA] entered the IDX ESG Leaders Index, announced by the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). This index measures the price performance of stocks that have a good Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) assessment and are also not involved in significant controversy and good financial performance. The IDX ESG Leaders Index is also a guide for investors in choosing stocks that contribute to the economy, environment, and social.

The IDX selected the constituents of the IDX ESG Leaders Index by considering several things, one of which was the ESG risk score from Sustainalytics. In October 2022 Chandra Asri successfully received a “Low Risk” ESG Risk Rating with a score of 17.7. This score also placed Chandra Asri in the top 1 percentile in the Global Commodity Chemicals sub-Industry as assessed by Sustainalytics

Chandra Asri received the Environmental Conservation & Biodiversity achievement at the Padmamitra Award 2022, organized by the Indonesian CSR Forum. This award was handed over directly by the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. Dr. (H.C.) K. H. Ma'ruf Amin. In this event, Chandra Asri proposed 2 (two) excellent programs related to the environment and protection of biodiversity, namely mangrove conservation in the Patikang Lestari Mangrove Edu-Ecotourism Area, Pandeglang, and community empowerment initiatives through plastic waste management, End-To-End Plastic Waste Management.

 The two programs adopt the company's Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) approach, one of which is through the application of a circular economy and the protection of biodiversity to maintain and increase carbon stocks. This award is motivation for the Company to continue contributing to reducing emissions and maintaining the achievement of the “Low Risk” ESG Risk Rating in the top 1% of the commodity chemical sub-industry, as awarded by Morningstar Sustainalytics.

Chandra Asri Receives the 2023 Corporate Emissions Transparency Award

On Tuesday, June 27, 2023, Chandra Asri received two awards at the "2023 Corporate Emissions Transparency Award" event organized by the Bumi Global Karbon Foundation (BGK Foundation), in collaboration with Investor Magazine from B-Universe. This recognition was given to Chandra Asri for its achievements in being included in the list of recipient companies for the "2023 Corporate Emissions Reduction Transparency Award in the Green Category" and the "2023 Corporate Emissions Calculation Transparency Award in the Gold Category".

These two awards were given to Chandra Asri for its accomplishment in reducing emissions and disclosing the calculation of two emission scopes, as reported in the Sustainability Report 2021.

Chandra Asri is committed to always being a trusted growth partner that makes a significant contribution to various stakeholders, including in mitigating climate change. Vice President Secretariat Visits Chandra Asri’s Waste Management Initiative

On Thursday, June 22, 2023, the Secretariat of the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia visited the waste management program assisted by Chandra Asri in Serdag, Cilegon. The program is called Industri Pengelolaan Sampah Terpadu-Atasi Sampah, Kelola Mandiri (IPST ASARI). This working visit was carried out to fulfill the function of Deputy Policy Support for Economic Development and Competitiveness Increasement. The purpose was to gather data and information regarding the concept of waste management in Cilegon City, covering both upstream and downstream processes.

 During the visit, Chandra Asri had the opportunity to explain the concept of end-to-end plastic waste management initiatives. These initiatives involve collecting waste, sorting it according to type, and processing it into beneficial products for society. This community-based waste management initiative consists of the IPST ASARI facility in Cilegon, which is integrated with the SAGARA Program in Anyar. The SAGARA Program aims to empower fishermen in the Anyar Village area. The visit was attended by Secretariat of the Vice President Team, led by Sri Prastiwi Utami, Assistant Deputy for Infrastructure, Energy Security, and Natural Resources, Edi Rivai, Director of Legal, External Affairs & Circular Economy Chandra Asri, and government officials from Purwakarta District and Cilegon.

As a company that prioritizes occupational safety and health, PT Krakatau Daya Listrik (KDL) is committed to following the required regulations for the industry. Due to its success in compliance, on Thursday, June 22, 2023, KDL received appreciation in four categories at the 2023 K3 Awards. The awards received were for Zero Accident achievement, Implementation of Occupational Safety and Health Management Systems (SMK3), HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control Program, and COVID-19 Prevention and Control Program. The Minister of Manpower, Dr. Hj. Ida Fauziyah, M.Sc., personally presented the award to Ari Azhar, KDL's Director of Operations and Business Development.

The Zero Accident award that KDL received acknowledges the Company's accomplishment of achieving 7,120,320 accident-free work hours, equivalent to the period between June 10, 2017, and September 30, 2022. Regarding the SMK3 award, KDL has consistently maintained its previous achievements and obtained a score of 93.37%, along with a Gold Certificate and Flag. Furthermore, KDL was awarded the platinum title for its outstanding achievements in the HIV/AIDS and COVID-19 Prevention and Control programs. This recognition is a result of the assessment of the HIV/AIDS and COVID-19 prevention programs, which scored 92.0 each.

Chandra Asri and Ecovance Study Biodegradable Plastic Ecosystem in Indonesia

Chandra Asri has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Ecovance Co. Ltd., a South Korean-based company specializing in biodegradable materials which partly owned by SKC group, to study the potential for strategic collaboration in the biodegradable plastic materials, polybutylene adipate terephthalate (PBAT) and polybutylene succinate (PBS). Through this MoU, both parties agree to focus on application development and customer evaluation, developing partnerships to create a biodegradable plastic ecosystem, and exploring investment opportunities in environmentally friendly materials and solutions.

A study will be conducted to determine the feasibility of biodegradable materials in the Indonesian market by leveraging Chandra Asri's extensive knowledge and experience in polymers and plastics, combined with Ecovance's expertise in biodegradable materials technology. Biodegradable plastic is seen as a green alternative to plastic due to its lower energy consumption and produces less emission. This advantage is in line with Chandra Asri's commitment to supporting Indonesia's Long-Term Strategy for Low Carbon and Climate Resilience 2050 (Indonesia Vision 2050 LTS-LCCR).

Krakatau Electrical Power (KDL). The investment is divided into 2 tranches with a value of up to US$200 million. With this investment, KDL's share ownership in PT Krakatau Posco Energy (KPE) becomes 45%. KDL will also co-invest in accordance with its equity stake to support KPE’s planned expansion to construct a new 200-megawatt (MW) power plant once the Final Investment Decision (FID) is taken.

The Sales and Purchase Agreement was signed by Nandang Hariana, President Director of KDL and Lee Jeon Hyeok, Senior Executive Vice President of Posco International Corporation. KPE has been well-established since 2011 and supplies electricity to the iron and steel making plant of PT Krakatau Posco (KP), a company led by POSCO in partnership with PT Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk, located in the heart of Indonesia’s “Steel City” Cilegon. KPE currently has an existing power plant and supporting infrastructure utilities with capacity of 200 MW that operates using off-gas from KP and is backed by a long-term contractual full offtake agreement that runs until 2038.
