PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk held a COVID-19 vaccination program for children aged 6-11 years in Jakarta from 10 to 14 January 2022. The vaccination program which is also intended for adults and the elderly is in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, West Jakarta City Government, Lions Club International, and ABUPI with a vaccination target of 5,000 people.
This activity is Chandra Asri's contribution in assisting the DKI Jakarta government's program to accelerate vaccination for residents start from children to the elderly to immediately achieve herd immunity among the community.
On 3 January 2022, PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk and PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia Tbk (BRI) sign a credit facility agreement worth a total of USD 325 million consisting of a Term Loan facility of USD 75 million, Trade Line facilities of USD 175 million, and Forex Line of USD 75 million. The signing was held by BRI's Wholesale and Institutional Business Director, Agus Noorsanto, and Director of Finance & Chief Financial Officer of Chandra Asri, Andre Khor along with the Director of Human Resources & Corporate Affairs of Chandra Asri, Suryandi.
This partnership is the first step in business development, increasing capital strength, and expanding Chandra Asri's market access in Indonesia and internationally. Furthermore, this collaboration is expected to encourage the development of CAP2 which can reduce Indonesia's dependence on imports and create new jobs.
To improve the quality of public health, especially for toddlers and pregnant women around the plant area, PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk held a Nutrition Post (Pos Gizi) program which has been carried out from September 2021 until the end of December 2021. In this third year, four locations of Health Center were selected for program implementation.
The total beneficiaries of this program are 54 toddlers and 20 pregnant women with Chronic Energy Deficiency. Activities carried out for approximately three months include initial nutrition screening, psychological examination, examination by Pediatrician in collaboration with RSUD Cilegon, monitoring of nutritional status, examination of General Practitioners, and Counseling of Nutritionists. This activity is also complemented by a series of parenting agendas as well as a balanced nutritious food that has been specially prepared by each health center. After the program closes, Nutrition Post participants are monitored on an ongoing basis in collaboration with nutrition officers at the sub-district health center to ensure that nutrition improvements are carried out consistently.
On 28 December 2021, PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk awarded Green PROPER (Company Performance Rating Assessment Program in Environmental Management) for both of its plants in Puloampel and Ciwandan. The annual award from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) was presented online by Vice President K.H. Ma'ruf Amin and Minister of Environment and Forestry Siti Nurbaya Bakar live from the Vice-Presidential Palace in Jakarta. This award was the result of the hard work of all Chandra Asri employees in carrying out the Company's commitment to environmental management and its contribution to community development.

Commemorating World Tree Day, PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk collaborated with the Kehati Cikalumpang Foundation in planting 600 trees on 21 December 2021. The Company distributed 300 trees that were planted in the Kehati Leuwibumi Park, Padarincang District, Serang Regency. In addition, as many as 300 other trees were planted in the Company's Kehati Park in Pasirceuri Village, Kadubeureum Village. Types of plants given consist of categories of productive, endemic, and rare plants and carbon-reducing plants.
In addition, Chandra Asri has also implemented an environmental service scheme for water in the Cidanau watershed area for an area of 25 hectares by maintaining 12,500 plant stands. The implementation of this environmental service has been carried out since 2016 in collaboration with the Cidanau Watershed Communication Forum (FKDC). This series of activities is a manifestation of the Company's concern for the environment to restraint the rate of deforestation, as well as efforts to reduce the carbon footprint.
As its contribution to ensuring the availability and sustainable management of clean water and sanitation, on 20 December 2021, PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk collaborated with Cilegon Corporate Social Responsibility (CCSR) in the construction of a healthy and environmentally friendly toilet for 20 families in Nagreg Village, Kepuh Village, and Kampung Cigobang, Randakari Village. In addition, Chandra Asri also provides access to clean water for people in Gambiran Village, Gunung Sugih and Pakijingan Village in Bandulu, Anyer.
This toilet facility uses a bio-septic tank which is more environmentally friendly. This bio-septic tank is a collaboration between Chandra Asri and PT Profilia Indotech which uses Chandra Asri's raw material, namely PE UR3840V. With the development of clean water access and sustainable sanitation, the community is expected to be able to implement clean and healthy living behaviors.
On 7 December 2021, PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk held a launch event for the Livestock Program for Sustainable Economic Independence in collaboration with the Villa Ternak Foundation. This program is Chandra Asri's effort to accelerate economic recovery due to the pandemic, especially for the community around the company. This program covers how to raise sheep and opportunities for economic development.
This program was also appreciated by the Head of the Cilegon City Food and Agriculture Security Service (DKPP), Eva Sarifah, and the Serang Regency Agriculture Service Head, Zaldi Dhuhana, who were also present on the occasion. This training event was attended by 52 people from Gunung Sugih, Anyer, Kosambironyok, and Grogol Indah villages, sending 13 participants each. Also, there is a breeding of 100 sheep which will be distributed to each village. The participants will be provided with how to raise sheep including how to make animal feed.

Under the OPEXCON theme of “Strengthening Business Resilience through Operational Excellence”, SGA Chandra Asri Kolimator from PP Lab Technician raised the title “Elimination of WDXRF (Wavelength Dispersive X-ray Fluorescence) breakdown due to High Vacuum from 3 to 0 Cases per Year in 6 Months”. Meanwhile, SGA Chandra Asri Delta Force from Styrene Plant Engineer raised the title “Reducing Idle Cost of Plant Styrene No.1 (PS1) from 81,587 to 70,169 USD/Month for 8 Months”. Obtaining this award certainly has a positive impact on the company and its employees, especially in the midst of the pandemic to continue to make improvements in all sectors.
On 6 December 2021, PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk welcomed the visit of Commission VII DPR RI and the Ministry of Industry to the Chandra Asri Petrochemical Complex in Cilegon, Banten. On this occasion, Chandra Asri introduced a number of the company's operational activities. This includes production activities, the application of industry 4.0 through the 2019-2023 Digital Transformation Roadmap, and the application of the green industry in the company environment. PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk continues to strive to provide solutions that contribute to social and environmental problems, especially regarding waste, health, and nature conservation as well as in the prevention of COVID-19 and economic recovery. This positive contribution received two awards, including the 2021 Green Industry award and the Main Award in the 2021 IDX Channel CSR Award.
Chandra Asri through the Ciwandan and Puloampel sites won the 2021 Level 5 (Best) Green Industry award which was handed over by the Minister of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita. This award is a manifestation of Chandra Asri's commitment to supporting sustainable development goals (SDGs) which are in line with the commitments of the Indonesian Government.
Another award was the Main Award in the 2021 IDX Channel CSR Award by IDX Channel for its contribution to overcoming COVID-19 and economic recovery through plastic waste management with the principles of a circular economy and community empowerment.
On 2 December 2021, PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk won the INDI (Indonesia Industry Readiness Index) 4.0 2021 award for the Aggressive Digitalization category. The Aggressive Digitalization category is given to companies for their significant and aggressive efforts to develop digital technology in their business processes that are able to increase competitiveness and productivity in the company as well as efficiency in the production process.
INDI 4.0 is an award from the Ministry of Industry which is the reference standard in measuring the company's readiness index to transform into the Industry 4.0 era. Chandra Asri has developed the 2019-2023 Digital Transformation Roadmap to face industry 4.0. This is in line with Chandra Asri's business strategy to maintain and improve world-class operating standards, cost efficiency, SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment) and employee competencies and capabilities to take advantage of digital transformation.
Continuing its commitment in social-environment and community economic development, PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk began the initiation phase of mangrove edu-ecotourism area development in The Lembur Mangrove area of Kampung Patikang, Citeureup Village, Panimbang District, Pandeglang Regency. The program, which is located in an area of 9,500 m2, is a buffer area of Tanjung Lesung Special Economic Zone. In its implementation, this program is also supported by POKDARWIS (Tourism Conscious Group) Putri Gundul Kampung Patikang, BUMDES (Village Owned Enterprises) Citeureup Village, and Banten Provincial Tourism Office.
The ceremonial kick-off program was held on 2 December 2021, along with the granting of tourist canoe which is the result of cooperation with the Company's costumers and made from Chandra Asri's product, Polyethylene. The Company also optimizes waste management efforts by utilizing the Company's non-B3 waste, namely wooden pallets and inneroll as raw materials. Furthermore, the development of edu-ecotourism areas will be carried out gradually and is expected to be the Company's contribution in the preservation of coastal areas as well as the economic development of the community.
Held virtually, PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk won the highest award, namely Par Excellence (Platinum) at the 46th International Convention on Quality Control Circles (ICQCC) 2021 on 24-27 November 2021 in India. This award was achieved through two SGA groups representing Chandra Asri, namely SGA CATION from UCC1 (SGA Engineer) and SGA INJECTOR from SM Lab (SGA Operator).
Under the theme of ICQCC 2021 "Quality Concepts Facilitating Societal and Economic Turnaround", SGA CATION Chandra Asri raised the title "Increase Reactor Run Length on HDPE Grade up to 24 Days: Road to Achieve 215 KT Production & Reduce Uptime Loss to 10%". Meanwhile, SGA INJECTOR Chandra Asri raised the title “Reduce 82% Methanol Cost in Polymer Analysis Within 5 Months”. Obtaining this award certainly has a positive impact on the Company and its employees in developing performance in their respective fields.
On 23 November 2021, PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk through its subsidiary PT Chandra Asri Perkasa has appointed four contractors namely Toyo Engineering Corporation, Samsung Engineering Co., Ltd., Wood, and PT Haskoning Indonesia to work on the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) for its second world-scale petrochemical complex in Indonesia (CAP2). This new milestone was marked by a virtual signing ceremony of the agreement with the four international and leading contractors today, held across Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, and Thailand.
FEED is a key stage for the detailed planning of the CAP2 project, and will be followed by the selection of engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractors. A Final Investment Decision (FID) will be taken by shareholders after EPC bidding is complete. Chandra Asri targets to take FID in 2022, and CAP2 operations to commence from 2026. CAP2 is the Company’s effort to respond to the challenges and opportunities arising from the growing demand for domestic petrochemical products, while reducing dependence on imports.
On 19 November 2021, PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk and PermataBank successfully launched a trade finance transaction using blockchain technology as a breakthrough for the trade financing process in Indonesia. PermataBank partners with Bangkok Bank PLC (Thailand) supported Letters of Credit issuance of Chandra Asri in Indonesia to their supplier. This transaction was completed on the Contour network within several hours compared to the traditional paper-based method. All parties achieved a significant efficiency improvement from digital information exchange, process streamlining, and transaction traceability.
In implementing this technology PermataBank collaborates with Contour, a blockchain-based company that provides services to more than 80 banks and companies across 17 countries in Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. This market-leading transaction marks the latest milestone of Chandra Asri’s Digital Transformation Program which can drive national economic growth.
On 18 November 2021, PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk won a Gold Award Appreciation for its plant in Ciwandan and a Silver Award for its plant in Pulo Ampel for the category of Large Organization of Goods in the Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Textile, and Mining Sector in the 2021 SNI Award event.
This award was given directly by the Head of the National Standardization Agency (BSN), Kukuh S Achmad, and the Deputy for Standard Implementation and Conformity Assessment (PSPK), Zakiyah to Chandra Asri. The SNI Award assessment is carried out strictly with a fairly long process (for approximately one year) and is carried out by a team of competent and experienced evaluators. This award shows Chandra Asri's consistency in his commitment to implementing SNI (Indonesian National Standard) for the quality and standards of its products.
PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk won Platinum and Gold Award at TKMPN (Temu Karya Mutu dan Produktivitas) XXV and IQPC (International Quality and Productivity Convention) 2021 held virtually on 15-18 November, 2021. The Gold Award was presented to SGA Chandra Asri Jack Hammer from the Mechanical Section SM plant and the Platinum Award was awarded to SGA Chandra Asri XPro from Ethylene and Utility Olefin. TKMPN XXV and IQPC 2021 are best practice sharing events for innovators from various national and international companies.
SGA Chandra Asri Jack Hammer won the Gold Award through the development theme "Eliminating Unplanned Shutdown in Furnace Coal Boiler 2BF-611 from 1 (one) case to 0 (zero) cases for 12 Months" in stream 2 TKMPN. SGA Chandra Asri XPro won the Platinum Award through the theme of developing "Eliminate Hydrocarbon Loss in Depropanizer #1 within 8 Months" in the IQPC stream internationally after competing with ten teams from four countries such as Indonesia, Philippines, Fiji and Japan.
On 16 November 2021, PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk won three awards at the annual Global CSR Summit & Awards 2021 which was held virtually. In the event, Chandra Asri received the Best Environment Excellence award in the Gold category, the CSR Leadership Award in the Gold category, and the Best Community Program in the Bronze category.
One of the awards in the Best Environment Excellence category was given for Chandra Asri's initiative in environmentally friendly technology to gradually switch to renewable energy in the factory environment. The company took an initiative to reduce its carbon footprint by building a PV (photovoltaic) solar panel installation on the factory roof that is capable of generating approximately 1,500 Megawatt-hours (MWh) of renewable electricity annually. The CSR Leadership Award was given to President Director Chandra Asri Erwin Ciputra, in a series of initiatives framed under the theme “Impactful CSR Leadership through Sustainability Development and Community Empowerment”. While in the Best Community Program category, Chandra Asri took a role in providing a positive impact on the community through infrastructure development in the form of iron girder bridges located in four different locations, namely Curug Bandung Village, Pasauran Village, Sajira Village in Lebak Regency, and Tangkilsari Village in Pandeglang Regency.
Chandra Asri Group through its subsidiary, PT Chandra Daya Investasi (CDI), expanded its business portfolio by acquiring and operating four vessels to transport oil, chemicals and natural gas. This move is part of the company's efforts to strengthen the reliability of raw material supply through a more efficient and sustainable maritime supply chain. The vessels will be operated by CDI's logistics subsidiaries, PT Chandra Shipping International (CSI) and PT Marina Indah Maritim (MIM), to support internal operational needs and open new logistics business opportunities in the transportation and storage sectors.
As part of its long-term strategy, CDI also plans to continue adding vessels to strengthen its competitiveness and develop its marine logistics and storage sectors. With more independent raw material transportation management capabilities, Chandra Asri Group targets better supply chain resilience and production process stability. This initiative is in line with the company's vision as an energy, chemical and infrastructure solutions provider in Southeast Asia and supports sustainable growth in the logistics and energy sectors, with services that not only support internal business needs but also the needs of the wider industry.
On 10 November 2021, PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk held Community Awareness Phase 4 for residents in Kepuh Village, Ciwandan. The event to provide education and disaster mitigation were attended by a total of 71 people consisting of representatives of citizens and representatives of local government agencies, including BPBD Cilegon, POLSEK and KORAMIL Ciwandan, as well as local villages and sub-districts. This activity was carried out by complying health protocols, namely the obligation to wear masks and maintain physical distance.
In this activity, Chandra Asri socialized the existence of gas pipelines and information related to the distribution of products owned by the company, especially polymer products, which use various modes of transportation that cross the highway close to the settlement of residents. This is a manifestation of the company's sustainability commitment in educating citizens about the existence of the company's gas pipelines that are close to settlements while providing disaster mitigation knowledge in case of leaks in the company's gas pipelines.
