On 25 October 2018, PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk achieved 3 Gold Medals and 1 Silver Medals in Singapore, through International Convention on Quality Control Circle (ICQCC), one of the most prestigious international convention in quality control circle. The three gold medals were achieved by Chandra Asri Small Group Activity (SGA) in Ethylene, Electric Polymer and Utility, and as for the silver medal was achieved by Chandra Asri SGA in Ethylene Cold Section. These are truly a motivation for Chandra Asri to keep making achievements and bringing more positive lights for Indonesia in international level.
On 25 October 2018, PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk won the highest award in Padmamitra Awards 2018 for Social Problem Handling in the Field of Poverty. The Padmamitra Awards is an appreciation platform by the Ministry of Social Affairs Republic Indonesia with the Social Responsibility Forum in Organizing Social Welfare (Kessos CSR Forum), held at the Swiss-Belhotel Ballroom in Jakarta. The award was given directly by the Social Minister of the Republic Indonesia, Mr. Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita to Mr. Abraham Sinatrawan, CSR Manager of PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk. This appreciation was awarded for the company's commitment in implementing a sustainable CSR program to improve the surrounding community quality of life.
On 24 October 20180, PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk held Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders (EGMS) in Wisma Barito Pacific, Jakarta. The meeting was attended by board of commissioner and directors with agenda of change in company's structure. Led by Mr. Djoko Suyanto as President Commissioner (also as Independent Commssioner), the meeting agreed upon the change of company's structure, that is to appoint Mr. Suryandi as Director, that also act as Independent Director.
On 11 October 2018, PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk through the CSR team sent assistance to the victims of the earthquake, tsunami, and liquefaction that occurred on 28 September 2018 in Palu, Sigi, and Donggala, Central Sulawesi. As a result of this natural disaster, majority of citizens around Palu lost their home and their loved ones. With the intention of helping Palu to recover, Chandra Asri employees raised fund to ease the least of distress the survivors may have. This donation was distributed to our employee’s family who were also impacted and to communities that are not yet being reached through Sekolah Relawan Foundation, a disaster response organization who also among the first organizations to arrive in the locations. The donation was also given to the Regional Government of Donggala as one of the most affected area. Donations given were for refugee logistics, compensation for those who lost family members, and minor house repairs.
On 4 October 2018, PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk share the implementation of Plastic Road at the 12th Polymer National Symposium (SNP XII) that was held at Margo Hotel, Depok. The annual program is a collaboration between the Indonesian Polymers Association (HPI) and Student Association of the Faculty of Engineering Metallurgy and Material from University of Indonesia. This event is a discussion platform for governments, academics, researchers and industry representatives. This 2018 theme of SNP XII is "Dealing Environmental Challenges with Plastic Technology”.
Mr. Edi Riva'i, Chandra Asri General Manager of Polymer TSPD had the opportunity to be a speaker. Through this platform, he shares the process of utilizing used plastic bag as an asphalt mixture material which then applied in Chandra Asri plant located in Cilegon, Banten. According to the research of the Ministry of Public Works of Public Housing (PUPR), plastic road has a 40% higher resistance rate than conventional one. Therefore, it is more durable and not easily cracked. This plastic road implementation, is a sustainability initiative from Chandra Asri to support sustainable development.
20 September 2018, PT Styrindo Mono Indonesia (SMI) handover supports taking form as 4 sewing machines for Maju Terus Mangunreja Coop, donation for Mangunreja Village’s Community Center refinement, and socialization regarding the utilization of non-hazardous waste in Mangunreja Village Office Hall, Serang, Banten. These supports aimed to serve Maju Terus Mangunreja Coop who’s currently developing a business for dust cloth production and empowering the locals through community center refinement and socialization. SMI wish to lift up the locals’ living standards by providing these aids.
Tackling garbage problems can be started with simple initiatives ranging from disposing trash properly, sorting out the trash, up to implementing the reuse and recycle concepts. Concern with garbage problems, PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk encourages employees to participate in World Clean Up Day 2018 which falls under 15 September 2018. Not only becoming part of world’s largest clean-up movement that involve 350 million volunteers in 150 countries, Chandra Asri perceives World Clean Up Day 2018 as an opportunity to emphasize the importance of trash-sorting to people. Chandra Asri is also delighted to be part of 13 million Indonesian World Clean Up Day 2018 volunteers.
In 10 September 2018, PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk, held Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders (EGMS) with agenda of change in company's structure. The meeting was attended by board of commissioner and directors in Wisma Barito Pacific, Jakarta. Throughout the meeting, shareholders approved the changes in the composition of the Directors and Commissioners as previously proposed by SCG Chemicals Company Limited which represented 30.57% of the company's shares. Some agreed agendas were also the resignation letter of Mr. Piboon Sirinantanakul from his position as Director of the Company, appointment of Mr. Somkoun Sriwattagaphong as new Production Director/Manufacturing Director, resignation letter of Mr. Chaovalit Ekabut from his position as Commissioner of the Company, and appointment of Mr. Thammasak Sethaudom as Commissioner Company.
8 August 2018, PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk through its Corporate Social Responsibility program, dispatches humanitarian aid to Lombok earthquake survivors. The humanitarian aid are stored in Halim Perdana Kusuma Airport under Posko Bencana Gempa Lombok, the organizing committee for humanitarian aid, initiated by Indonesia National Arm Forces. Chandra Asri sends 300 blanket, 336 boxes of baby food and 960 pcs of diapers. These aids are expected able to lift the burden of the survivors who currently are on refuge. With deepest sympathy, our thoughts and prayers are with Lombok.
PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk succeed in scoring positive Wealth Added Index (WAI) through a recognized financial performance in Top 100 Indonesia’s Best Wealth Creator in SWA Magazine (SWA No.15, 26 July – 5 August 2018 Edition).
CAP is in the 8th place from 100 public listed company that are on SWA’s list for best wealth creators, or issuers with ability to return share price gains and dividends, more than its cost of equity, to its investors. This year’s ranking is based on 2017’s WAI, that is measured based on day-to-day share price change, throughout 2013 – 2016.

On 3 July 2018, PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk (CAP) with Ministry of Public Work and Public Housing (PUPR) inaugurate the implementation of asphalt plastic road within 6.372 m2 CAP’s Plant areal sited in Cilegon, Banten. This asphalt plastic program is part of CAP’s sustainability program and a form of support to government’s target to reduce plastic waste to 70% by 2025.
The Asphalt Plastic is made of common asphalt material but with a mix of cut-up plastic waste, type of High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) that takes form of plastic bag. In order to cover the needs of cut-up plastic waste, CAP also work hand-in-hand with Indonesian Olefin, Aromatic and Plastic Industry Association (INAPLAS) and Indonesian Plastic Recycle Association (ADUPI).
Research conducted by Ministry of PUPR towards asphalt plastic trial in several cities, indicated that the addition of plastic component towards the asphalt mix could increase asphalt deformation resistance level, thus it is less prone to crack or more durable. Hence, the implementation of asphalt plastic is expected to be one of effective solutions toward plastic waste problem.

On 5 June 2018, PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk held its annual event, Bazar Ramadhan in Cilodan field, Cilegon, Banten. Through this event, 3000 affordable groceries coupon is distributed to resident of Sub-District Ciwandan, Village Kosambironyok and Village Anyar, so they could redeem the groceries with half prices. Bazar Ramadhan is a form of CAP’s social concern to surrounding citizens in facing groceries price increase within Ramadhan and approaching the Eid.

On 28 May 2018, PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk, through its subsidiary, PT Petrokimia Butadiene Indonesia, has awarded Toyo Engineering Corporation (TOYO) and Inti Karya Persada Tehnik (IKPT, TOYO’s Indonesian subsidiary) as the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractors for the 127,000 tons/year Methyl Tert-Butyl Ether (MTBE) and 43,000 tons/year Butene-1 plants. Using the CDMtbe, BASF Selective Hydrogenation and Butene-1 Separation Technology from CB&I, the plants are going to be built in the existing petrochemical complex in Cilegon, Banten and become the first MTBE and Butene-1 plants in Indonesia. The plants with total investment of USD 114 million are expected to start commercial production in the third quarter of 2020.
The new plants will consume Raffinate-1, the by-product from the existing Butadiene unit as its raw material, thus making CAP the most integrated petrochemical complex in Indonesia.
Well aware of the importance of sustainability in running its business operations, PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk will install a safe, smokeless flare technology, Enclosed Ground Flare (EGF). Therefore, on 28 May 2018, CAP officially awarded Toyo Engineering Corporation (TOYO) and Inti Karya Persada Tehnik (IKPT), TOYO’s Indonesian subsidiary, as the engineering, procurement and construction contractors for the installation of a new EGF at its petrochemical complex in Cilegon, Banten. This technology significantly reduces any air pollution, noise, heat and light emission during a plant start-up and irregular operational activities. Application of EGF will ensure that there is minimum operational impact to the environment and surrounding communities compared to conventional flare use.
